\nLarry\u2019s prolific writings covered a range of inter-related topics, from\u00a0markets, food and agriculture, to higher education (Knowledge for Sale: The Neoliberal\u00a0Takeover of Higher Education<\/em>,\u00a0MIT Press 2017) to infrastructures (Standards: Recipes for Reality<\/em>,\u00a0MIT Press 2013). As well as being University Distinguished\u00a0Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Michigan State University, Larry was a Visiting Professor at Lancaster\u2019s Center for Social and Economic\u00a0Aspects of Genomics (CESAGEN) from 2008-2010.\u00a0<\/span>
\nDuring his stay in Lancaster, many of us had the opportunity to experience the tremendous generosity of Larry\u2019s spirit as well as his intellect. A true\u00a0polymath, full of insights across an astounding array of subject areas and deeply committed to social justice, Larry managed never to take himself too\u00a0seriously. \u00a0<\/span>
\nIn recent years Larry\u2019s writings became even more eclectic as, inspired by his grandkids, he published the\u00a0Mite B. True<\/a>\u00a0book series for children. He\u00a0bemoaned the fact that in his emeritus status he was unable to claim these publications for his annual review.\u00a0<\/span>
\nTributes from Larry\u2019s colleagues and friends are currently being collected at\u00a0https:\/\/www.frazerfunerals.com\/<\/a>. He was a living example of how to be both a brilliant scholar and also a funny, unpretentious, and kind man. His was a life well lived and full of love, and he will be missed.<\/span><\/p>\n
