The Concordat

The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, sometimes referred to as the ‘Researcher Development Concordat’, is a very important document for researchers and those who work with them.

It is split into three sections (or “principles”): environment and culture, employment, and professional and career development. In each of these principles, the Concordat makes it clear what is expected of the four key stakeholder groups: funders, institutions, researchers and managers of researchers.

In November 2019, Lancaster signed up to the Concordat and agreed to the obligations listed in it.

The RSA Executive members all sit on the institution’s Concordat Implimentation Group which is tasked with emebedding the Concordat into Lancaster’s policies and proceedures.
