Professor
Carla Nunes from NOVA’s School of Public Health has recently visited Lancaster University, under a Erasmus + initiative. The main goal of the visit was to prepare the kick-off of a new project awarded by Portuguese National Research Agency (Fundação para a Ciencia e Tecnologia, Portugal; project reference: PTDC/SAU-PUB/31346/2017: “UrbanTB – From symptoms to diagnosis of Urban Tuberculosis, considering individual and contextual factors. What are the determinants and critical points of this delay’s pathway?”). This project included four different universities and has Prof.
Benjamin Taylor from Lancaster University and Dr. Dennis Falzon (WHO) as external advisors. In 2014, Professor
Carla Nunes took a sabbatical year at Lancaster University and that was when collaboration with those colleagues started.
Additionally, moving forward the strategic partnership established between NOVA and Lancaster University, Carla Nunes met with Céu Mateus, Benjamin Taylor and Patrick Rebuschat to discuss the development of joint teaching and research initiatives. Several activities and near future meetings are already being planned.
