Agreeing on values for the group\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On 11th January the Innovation Group met to reflect on the first year of activity, and plan ahead for the coming year. Keen to nail down our core values, we embarked on a process of identifying and then aggregating our personal values, both in relation to the group and for ourselves. This activity was based on\u00a0Phil Jones’ Ding!<\/a>. Once we had identified the values common to the group, we spent some time trying to refine and define what we really meant by these words and whether they truly reflected our vision for the group. Out was ‘service’, in was ‘making a positive difference’.<\/p>\n

Equality, equity, justice, fairness, inclusive?<\/h3>\n

The most challenging and interesting part of the discussion was trying to pin\u00a0what many of us felt was an important value, but\u00a0few of us used the same word.\u00a0Was it equality, equity, justice, fairness, inclusive? With\u00a0an academic\u00a0lawyer in the room, you can imagine how the conversation went! Inspired in part by Carl Froehle’s much-shared and adapted meme<\/a>\u00a0we settled on Equity.<\/p>\n
