The Working with Parents and Carers Pathway of Support maps onto key elements of the following guidance:<\/span><\/p>

Ofsted Inspection Framework:<\/em> The Ofsted inspection criteria expect schools to be engaging parents in supporting pupils\u2019 achievement, behaviour and safety and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Ofsted inspectors have a duty to have regard for the views of parents. Inspectors will also take account of the results of any surveys carried out or commissioned by the school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Department for Education (2021) Promoting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing guidance: <\/em>The family plays a key role in influencing student\u2019s emotional health and mental wellbeing. There is strong evidence that well implemented universal and targeted interventions supporting parenting and family life have the potential to yield social as well as economic benefits.<\/span><\/p>

NICE (2022) Social, emotional and mental wellbeing in primary and secondary education guidance:<\/em> The guidance recommends settings involve parents and carers in designing and implementing the whole setting approach, as well as, when appropriate in discussions about offering targeted support (1.1.14; 1.4.3).\u00a0 .\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

What is this training about?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Sometimes it can feel tricky to know how best to approach or respond to challenging situations and conversations. We can sometimes feel that there are barriers getting in the way of having good relationships with the families of students we teach and support. This training considers factors that often affect our ability to communicate well and what we can do that helps to build good communication.<\/span><\/p>
