First Lancaster-Ghent Symposium: Discourse and Media

The first symposium of the Lancaster-Ghent partnership takes place on March 23, 2017, at Lancaster University. The topic is “Discourse and Media”; it will feature talks by Lancaster and Ghent staff and students. Uta Papen assesses Ghent PhD dissertation

On August 19, Uta Papen traveled to Ghent to serve as external examiner of Mieke Vandenbrouke‘s PhD on “Signs of the times: Empirical case-studies on Brussels’ linguistic landscapes”. Mieke’s dissertation was supervised by Stef Slembrouk. Many congratulations, Mieke!

Language testing conference in Lancaster

This weekend, we welcomed Catherine Verguts from Ghent’s University Language Centre to Lancaster University. Catherine attended the (very successful) language testing conference organized by Tineke Brunfaut and Luke Harding (Lancaster’s Language Testing Research Group). In addition, we used the opportunity to discuss further details of the Lancaster-Ghent initiative over an extended lunch.
