Numismatics Conference with @lobstericecream and\u00a0@LouiseMJ76<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the other\u00a0extras that Matt offered to Jenny, Louise and I, was to take part in a Numismatics Conference that he was leading. It was put on by Museum Development North West, in partnership with the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, and you can visit the site which described the aims of the event:<\/p>\n

We met up and wrote our presentation. By this point, we knew our display like the back of our hand and we could talk about our work at the Harris for hours, so working out what to saw wasn\u2019t too bad. I made sure the PowerPoint was all pretty and added incredibly crucial images of magpies.<\/p>\n

It was slightly nerve-wracking on the day when, sadly, Louise couldn\u2019t make it and I had to cover her parts, and when we found out there were people from the British Museum there to listen to us (The British Museum!!).<\/p>\n

But in the end the presentation went quite well. The audience seemed keen to examine the handing case of coins that we\u2019d put together, and we got a few laughs \u2013 when they were meant to laugh as well!<\/p>\n

The coin below is a Soviet Russian 50 kopek. It declares\u00a0\u2018Proletarians of all countries, unite!\u2019 One of Louise\u2019s favourite coins from her\u00a0collection and a hit with our audience.<\/p>\n

Even better was after the first half of the conference, when we went to the Harris for lunch. After they\u2019d eaten, the visitors wanted to be taken to the display and told more information about it!<\/p>\n

Several people even tweeted about it afterwards, saying how much they\u2019d enjoyed our presentation and seeing our work!<\/p>\n
