At this conference we are looking to present the best models around the world in presentations and in the design competition.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0BIG\u00a0challenge is that these goals are not reaching the population groups most in need.\u00a0The poorest neighborhoods suffer the greatest health problems. Moreover, many cities face an unprecedented\u00a0housing affordability\u00a0crisis, gentrification, and increasing homelessness.\u00a0We especially want to hear from you &#8211; in presentations and in the design competition &#8211; if you are introducing innovative strategies to improve poor neighborhoods!<\/p>\n<p>Call for Papers:<br \/>\nThose wishing to give a presentation should submit a 250-word abstract for consideration before October 15, 2018. Please submit online, following the Call for Papers Guidelines on the web at:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.livablecities.org\/conferences\/56th-conference-portland\/call-papers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.livablecities.org\/conferences\/56th-conference-portland\/call-papers<\/a><br \/>\nPlease prepare proposals for blind peer review. Notification will be sent within 4 weeks of submission. Final accepted papers are due March 2019. Papers must be presented in person at the conference and will be published in the digital conference proceedings. Selected papers will also be published in eReports on focused topics.<\/p>\n<p>Design Awards Competition:<br \/>\nFor more details about the Design Awards Competition, please see:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.livablecities.org\/conferences\/56th-conference-portland\/design-awards-competition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.livablecities.org\/conferences\/56th-conference-portland\/design-awards-competition<\/a><br \/>\nThe 2019 IMCL Design Competition jury will consider all submissions that speak to\u00a0Designing a Healthy City for All. Projects that emphasize\u00a0Health, Equity,\u00a0Community, and Sustainability\u00a0are actively sought, and will be given particular consideration.
