FASS Graduates’ Group Art Exhibition Opening This Saturday!

Three FASS graduates are opening their group art exhibition at a local gallery this Saturday, 1st May!

Georgina Harris, Kasia Tatys and Nuria Rovira completed their internships as Assistant Curators at the White Elephant gallery in Morecambe last year, while in the final year of their Fine Art degrees. They then set up their own shared studio space in the Arndale Centre. Now they are excited to be back at the White Elephant with their first exhibition!

All students and staff are warmly invited to visit the exhibition and/or attend the online opening event on Tuesday 4th May. Please see details below.

Exhibition description:

CARTOGRAPHY: CARBON, PAINT, MUD is a group show from three emerging artists that grew from a period of shared working spaces, ideas and resources. Georgina Harris, Kasia Tatys and Nuria Rovira ask the question How did we get here? Here being a pause, and an attempt to navigate oneself, in their place of work, Morecambe bay, and in the confusing climate of these current times.

This exhibition of paintings, drawings and multi-media installation explores alternate map making, sense of place, worlds of perception, and encounters between the body and the landscape.

Opening event information:

In place of a physical opening, White Elephant invites you to a live panel discussion on 4th May at 7pm, between artists Nuria Rovira, Georgina Harris and Kasia Tatys, and White Elephant Gallery owners Paul Kondras and Neil Wilson.

Hear the artists talk about their collaborative ways of working and the importance of their shared studio space in Morecambe, as well as the process of curating at White Elephant.

The panel will delve into the themes of the exhibition; of place, belonging, active landscapes, and alternative map making, providing the perfect chance to gain a deeper understanding of the artists and their work.

The discussion will be followed by a Q&A of questions from audience members.

There will also be a video tour of the exhibition as part of the event.
