An international external advisory panel will review the team’s annual progress and advise on pathways to impact. We shall include one leading figure from Bangladesh, Tanzania, UK and USA in this panel. The following individuals have been approached: Bangladesh’s Dr. Saleemul Huq (Independent University); Tanzania’s Prof. Joseph Hella (Sokoine University of Agriculture); UK’s Prof. Diana Mitlin (Manchester University); and USA’s Prof. Anthony Bebbington (Clark University).

We will also set up one national advisory panel in Bangladesh and Tanzania. They will advise us biannually, at strategically important points (e.g. at project inception) and during dissemination of findings. The proposed Bangladesh panel includes: Prof. Ainun Nishat and Prof. Syed Hashemi (BRAC University) and Dr. Khairul Islam (WaterAid). The proposed Tanzania panel includes: Prof. Raphael Chibunda (Ministry of Science, Technology and Communication), Dr. Steven Mbwambo (Ministry of Education and Vocational Training) and Prof Kombe (Ardhi University).

As detailed in the track record, the project will have access to lab facilities to culture bacteria in food samples and to examine pollutant loading in both countries. Moreover, the expertise in bacteria culture held at ICDDR,B will be transferred to Tanzania. Similarly, the urban agriculture expert from Tanzania will advise on her field to Bangladeshi colleagues. These cross-country transfers will promote South-South collaboration. The majority of data collection and analysis will be conducted by local experts under the assistance of the relevant expertise offered by UK researchers. This will ensure North-South collaboration. The study will also be facilitated by the purchase of Satellite Imagery and DelAqua Portable Water Testing Kits for each city.
