Salomé Villa Larenas

Project: Improving Distance PGR Student Access to Research Community

Santiago born Salomé is currently in her first year of PhD study at Lancaster having recently moved here from the Universidad Alberto Hurtado in Chile.

Whilst enjoying the peaceful surroundings and her new colleagues in the Linguistics Department she is missing the sunshine she is used to at home!

Salomé has had a good grounding in the innovative uses of modern technology through her interest in video gaming.  She has a preference to figure out solutions for herself and as a result is self-taught in many aspects of her knowledge of technology.  This inquisitive nature has meant she has developed a track record as a problem solver, shown by the streamlining & improving of services at her previous university.

Whilst at Lancaster Salomé is hoping to develop her understanding of Item Response Theory techniques, used to measure difficult to track variables like attitudes and ability.
