Project Update: What kind of social media site do you want? (September 2016)

Social Media for Employability image

Jed Winstanley and his academics are creating a social media site that BLS students can engage with to develop their employability skills. Over the summer he’s been reading up on social media and researched other Universities’ blogs. He’s also designed and delivered a survey to find out more about BLS students’ social media habits. Jed’s provided an update on what’s next for this project:

A huge number of responses was received for the social media questionnaire so first off I’d like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey!

The survey responses were analysed to get an idea of social media usage habits and sorts of content BLS students would like to see on the blog site in addition to which types of content they would contribute to and why. This information was then combined with the research previously performed (regarding other Universities, learned societies and innovative sectors’ blog sites) into a concise report with recommendations for the Lancaster University BLS student blog.

Next on the agenda is to get the blog site up and running using WordPress and gather some starting posts to be showcased to incoming BLS students in Welcome week.
