We run a Feminist Media &amp; Cultural Studies Summer School for our MA students, and the undergraduate module Media &amp; Gender is popular.<\/p>\n<p>Feminist Media Studies @ Lancaster brings together those working in a wide range of fields at Lancaster and beyond. We include not only those who research gender-related topics, but broadly include those that employ critical theoretical, methodological, intersectional and inclusive feminist approaches to media and culture across disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>Working within the Centre for Gender Studies, we aim to develop a collaborative and supportive space to discuss feminist and media topics, theory, methodologies, and pedagogies. This includes arranging seminars and publishing on feminist media studies-related topics, organising social events, and collaborating on research projects.<\/p>\n<p>Our researchers have a range of expertise, including feminist, queer, trans, critical race and decolonial theories; digital media and culture; AI; affect and embodiment theory; celebrity theory; the cultural and creative industries; promotional cultures; fandom and participatory cultures; East and Southeast Asian popular culture; reality television; film theory and practice; photography; fashion and costume; literature; animals and the environment; youth justice; migration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aims<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To support and promote interdisciplinary research, scholarship, teaching and learning in the field of intersectional feminist media studies;<\/li>\n<li>To provide a peer support community for those interested in feminist media studies, including exchanging ideas and promoting collaboration;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>To organise seminars and other events related to the topic, to foster scholarly debate within Lancaster and beyond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can find out more about our members <a href=\"https:\/\/www.research.lancs.ac.uk\/portal\/en\/organisations\/feminist-media-studies-research-group\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Feminist Media Studies @ Lancaster Photo by Karsten Winegeart on Unsplash The Centre for Gender Studies is particularly known for its work in feminist media studies.
