Using utopia as a method to explore and contest futures\u00a0is\u00a0a powerful approach (Levitas 2013). It is at once critical, ethical, creative, and integrative. How does it help us\u00a0understand current\u00a0everyday practices and their relation to multi-scalar, intergenerational, more-than-human futures? How might \u2018mobilising\u2019 utopia as method provide deeper insight and creative leverage? <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/cemore-bonfire\/background\/\">Read more about the background here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mobile Utopia Experiment<\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>and <strong>The Mobile Utopia Bonfire School<\/strong><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>are organised on the Fringe of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/t2mc2c\/\"><b>Mobile Utopia: Pasts, presents and futures 2017 Conference\u00a0<\/b><\/a>&#8211; jointly organised by\u00a0<i>Cemore<\/i>,\u00a0<i>T2M<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>Cosmobilities, <\/i>which takes place\u00a02-5 November 2017 at Lancaster University.\u00a0In these pages, we invite your participation.<\/p>\n<p>In a nutshell:<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Mobile Utopia Bonfire School<\/strong>\u00a0(29 October &#8211; 2 November 2017, Lancaster University) brings together senior and junior scholars from a range of different disciplines (history, social science, art, design, policy, engineering and more) to explore how futures and\u00a0utopia as method &#8211; relate to their research.\u00a0Please find further information and a call for submissions <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.lancs.ac.uk\/cemore-bonfire\/participate-bonfire-school\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mobile Utopia Experiment<\/strong>\u00a0(1-2 November 2017, Lancaster University) is\u00a0an exploratory pre-enactment of desirable futures, designed to make &#8216;pockets&#8217; of utopian\u00a0futures &#8216;inhabitable&#8217; enough to enable discursive, but also embodied and playful reflection.
