Where are you now and what are you doing?
\n<\/b><\/span>I am currently on a 2 year post graduate course in food and fresh produce management with a company called MDS Ltd<\/a>. I am currently on my second role (out of 4) in a commercial role at Next Head Office in Leicester, working on fresh flowers.<\/span><\/p>\n

How did you get there?
\n<\/b><\/span>After graduating, I worked in LEC on carbon footprinting, focusing particularly on the food industry. I began my post grad course in November on my first placement in supply chain, before moving to gain commercial experience in April. I joined MDS with an interest in the global food system, sustainability and food waste. The course allows me to experience other areas of the industry whilst gaining experience in management and leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n

What would you like to do next?
\n<\/b><\/span>My next role will be in a different section of the food and fresh produce industry, to develop my knowledge, leadership and management skills. Once I have finished my 4 placements, I would love to stay in the food industry in a management based role and persue my initial environmental interests within the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you choose to study at Lancaster?
\n<\/b><\/span>I was attracted to Lancaster due to the size of the university and the campus feel (plus it was a good distance from home!). LEC department as a whole is fantastic, and the opportunities it offers are second to none, from providing crucial internship placements to aid job applications, to careers fairs and chances to travel.<\/span><\/p>\n

What was your favourite part of your degree and why?
\n<\/b><\/span>Without a doubt it was the Amazon field trip<\/a>. To experience the culture in a research based way was incredible and is something I won\u2019t forget!<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you think your time at Lancaster prepared you for what you\u2019re currently doing?
\n<\/b><\/span>Lancaster has provided me with a strong basis to enter employment. Havingundertaken two internships<\/a> at university organised through LEC definitely helped secure me the job I am currently in.<\/span><\/p>\n

What did you enjoy most about your time at Lancaster? (Including extra-curricular activities and beyond?
\n<\/b><\/span>Whilst at Lancaster, I was involved in the Rowing Society<\/a> and really enjoyed the challenge it gave when balancing with university work. Geography as a subject seemed a lot more sociable than other degrees. As a campus university, it made first year particularly easy to settle in and gain your social circle both in geography and through your college, as you would walk to lectures from the same area.<\/span><\/p>\n
