This one day symposium will include keynotes from each of our visitors as well as rich opportunities for debate and discussion around the symposium theme. This theme – Research, teaching and learning across disciplinary frontiers – has been chosen to encompass diverse aspects of the academic role and the ways in which we contribute to society. The keynotes will address both issues involved in interdisciplinary research, teaching and learning and provide examples of interdisciplinarity at work. The emphasis will be on a critical examination of interdisciplinarity.
This symposium will be important for everyone involved in researching, teaching or learning:
· In interdisciplinary teams;
· Carrying out interdisciplinary research;
· Interested in exploring their own academic practice and that of their colleagues;
· Interested in the nature and purpose of higher education more generally.
Our visitors reflect the work in our three research centres: the Centre for Higher Education Research and Evaluation, the Centre for Social Justice and Wellbeing in Education and the Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning.
